Outsourcing: Smart or Natural Smart

The quote “Rather than jumping into outsourcing everything, many companies prefer to start slow” made by Tony Macina from IBM Global Services clearly indicates the attitude of modern business towards outsourcing. (Lacity and Willcocks, 2000)

Well, outsourcing management is very important in the world of globalization. As the girl from joke says - we could outsource even our homeworks to India. I would like to start this post from how I wrote this paper.
First of all this subject was interesting - IT Management. I attended the module with great pleasure and wrote down every lecture. In the assignment I hoped rather to be focused on managerial tools, but our lecturer1 wanted us to write about outsourcing IT. Immediately I started  to think about a topic for my assignment. And as you already know I like to think. I spent the 90% of the stipulated time and started working on the paper only 4 days before the deadline. Anyway it proved to be enough for completing a paper on such a topic.

I prepared the MindMap of the future paper based on books and articles I have read on the topic. After working on the map I sent it to my lecturer. He agreed that the idea was enough original but was too risky. I agreed as well. The more risky, the more nteresting.

Paper consists of the following parts:

  • Introduction
  • Outsourcing System Management
  • Management: Smart or Super smart?
  • Natural (biological) outsourcing
  • Conclusion - Comparing Systems

ISBN: 0471899593 ISBN - 0-471899593
Finally, I began working from a very good book called: Global Information Technology Outsourcing2). I focused my vision of outsourcing management on multi-sourcing. While reading I came upon a very interesting article in ITNOW magazine about Smart Management and started to think about Super smart project management in IT outsourcing. Afterwards, a quite interesting comparison issue occured to me:

IT outsourcing management vs biological outsourcing

The idea was ambitious and bold. I liked it. I made a search on the theme but, unfortunately, I found nothing. Meanwhile I had a dinner with few of my friends from Manchester University and as one of them3 studies biology I asked her to search for something about this kind of staff. She helped me at onces giving me just one word: Symbioses. YES!! Symbioses was what I was searching for. I found few articles and started to read them. Actually, it was too difficult for me. I took only general examples at first. But then I went a little deeper into the subject and find out truly interesting researches done by Philip Hunter - Australian researcher who has worked upon a very interesting research on multiple symbiosis, which is already a sensation in his field. The name of the research is “Entente cordiale: Multiple symbiosis illustrates the intricate interconnectivity of nature”, which goes deeper in researching multiple organisms interconnectivity in the nature, based on completely new discovery from the nature.

Well, all what I have done can be shown in my conclusion, which is not that successful, in my opinion, but I am going to work on it. And here is the main statement of the whole work:
The mutualistic obligated relations are the key in whole system of outsourcing management and strategy creation. Maybe, in near future, this type of relations will form an overwhelming majority in all cases of outsourcing, as far as all large organisations will understand the importance of smart sourcing and setting mutual obligated relations.

So, maybe, you should read it..- Download (pdf)
